Nobody at Panera Bread on December 19th was expecting a holiday visitor. That's exactly the point. From 12–12:30 PM in Sioux City, The Siouxville Grinch descended on an unsuspecting lunch crowd for one of the most chaotic — and joyful — quick pop-ins of the season.
Soup, Sandwiches, and a Grinch
Lunchtime at Panera is supposed to be peaceful. A quiet bowl of soup. A warm sandwich. Maybe a cookie if you've been good. Nobody budgets for a large green holiday villain critiquing their mac and cheese choices.
Yet there he was. Table to table, booth to booth — offering grumpy commentary, photobombing family selfies, and occasionally stealing a bread roll in a way that was somehow both alarming and endearing.
The staff were incredible. A handful of regulars who had clearly not planned on this level of excitement on a Friday lunchtime were genuinely laughing within thirty seconds of the Grinch's arrival. Even the most serious soup-eaters cracked a smile.
30 Minutes of Pure Holiday Chaos
Half an hour. That's all it takes. Quick, unannounced, completely memorable — that's the Grinch pop-in experience in a nutshell.
💚 Thank you, Panera Sioux City. Nobody expected it. Everybody loved it.
